Purchasing Lights

I decided to purchase a light kit from a person who also lives in Broadmoore.  I found a listing on Craigslist that seemed like a good deal, especially since it’s so convenient and I can look at the before I buy.  The person selling them also offered me a camera package with the JVC GY-HD110u.  It was a great deal, but unfortunately I just don’t have the money right now.

I think these lights will be a good investment.  For one, I can now apply for jobs and say I have my own equipment, despite how meager.  These lights will also let me work on my own projects more easily.

The light kit is very small, with three 250-watt Lowel Pro Lights.  It’s not particularly powerful, but I enjoy working with these lights.  I’m not sure what category they fall into, because they’re not quite fresnels.

I typically despise Lowel lights because they are difficult to control (being open-faced lights) and fall apart pretty easily.  But in my experience, the Lowel Pro Lights are a solid choice, especially for the price.  They are very small and lightweight, making them easy to move around.   Despite not being powerful overall, they are exceptionally powerful for their size and power consumption.  And they are solidly constructed, partially because they are so small that they don’t get knocked around as easily.
